Welcome to the United States Coast Guard
Online Incident Investigation
Reports
|
The Online Incident Investigation Report provides you with information regarding
maritime incidents investigated by the U.S. Coast Guard under Part D of Title 46
of the U.S. Code. These published reports are limited to reportable marine casualties,
as defined in Section 4.05 of Title 46 of the Code of Federal Regulations, that
were closed after October 2002. Additional reports, those closed prior to November
2002 may be added in the future.
The information published herein complies with Federal laws designed to protect
from disclosure personal and private information about members of the public.
In particular, the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C.
552a) and the Health Insurance Portability And Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996
(P.L. 104-191) prohibit the Coast Guard from disclosing certain information to the
public.
This website offers several options to search for reports and retrieve a listing of incidents that match
your search criteria. You can then view selected reports from that list. However,
due to the complexity and volume of the data involved, the report initially displayed
contains only top level data. You are provided the option to add timeline and detail
data if you wish. However, doing so may significantly add to the load time of the
detailed report. We welcome your suggestions on ways to improve this site.
